Bring the Tejas Foco 2015 to Houston

by Tony Diaz on 02/17/14

I look forward with convening with all our friends, colleagues, and familia at the Tejas Foco 2014 in San Antonio at North West Vista College.

This year I am attending to submit our bid for Lone Star College-North Harris in Houston, Texas to host the Tejas Foco 2015.

My campus and the entire city of Houston has had a huge influx of Latinos. We poised to lead the way in demonstrating how a multicultural, multimedia economy is good for everyone. So of course, Houston and Texas, need Mexican American Studies now more than ever.

As you know, of 5 million student in Texas, 51% are Hispanic. Houston is also home to the largest school district in Texas-the Houston Independent School District, with over 270 schools.

This is our time. I know that we can lead the way, and I believe Houston plays a major role in our Chicano Renaissance.

I hope that you will support me in not only bringing the Tejas Foco 2015 to Houston but in also continuing the exponential growth our group, our field, and our people have seen.

Thank you,

Tony Diaz, El Librotraficante
Director of Intercultural Initiatives
